Although a reborn doll originally started out as a regular child's doll getting a makeover and being made into a 'realistic baby like appearance doll', it is more often made from a kit today. These kits come from the work of very talented sculptors. The reborn artist, such as myself, bring those kits to life through many hours of hard work. It is a rewarding, but costly hobby.
I have been reborning since 2009. Hundreds of my reborn babys are now living all over the world.
No, all of my reborns are made from the soft durable vinyl. They have a jointed doe suede body unless otherwise mentioned in the description. (The doe suede is actually faux, it's not really from a doe).
I usually use Genesis Heat Set Paints (GHSP). I bake each layer and cool before applying another layer. Each layer is very lightly painted until I get the appearance I am looking for. I have tried air dry paints. I like them too. I find both work well. However, I don't like having to wait 2 to 3 weeks for the paint to cure so that I can move on to the next step of reborning, so I decided to stay with the GHSP.
I do. It is www.babies4unursery.jimdo.com I do not sell from my site but share many pics of past, present and soon to be available reborns there. It is a good place to learn more about me and my involvement in the art of reborning. I also share contests I do for free reborns there.
Yes, I have a Babies4U Nursery page. This is where I put all my important information for my fellow reborn baby lovers. Contests are done twice a year and I start all of that from my Facebook page.
